The Marches are a borderland that has long been a meeting point of cultures, languages, and power. Rhos Dirion, at 2,339 feet, is the highest point on the Rhos Dirion - Chwarel y Fan ridge in the Black Mountains. 'Rhos Dirion' means 'Gentle Heath', a wide, wild area of peat, heather, and long grasses.
